PINK FLOYD'S ANIMALS COVER : “Un esprit sain dans un porc sain”

Do you know this mythical album cover ?

The famous cover of Pink Floyd's Animals album, released in 1977, was created by the Hipnogis collective based on an idea by Roger Waters. It features a pig floating above Battersea power station, inspired by George Orwell's Animal Farm.

A giant 12-meter-long balloon named Algie was specially designed. On the day of the photoshoot, a large team of photographers, filmmakers, a helicopter and even a sniper to shoot down the balloon in the event of a problem were assembled.

However, the photoshoot was delayed by a day due to bad weather. Only, the next day, the sniper wasn't there. The balloon rises and the cables finally give way. The balloon broke loose.

Its drift has caused Heathrow airport to ground to a halt! The helium pig eventually lands in a farmer's cow field.

Algie was finally included in the photo taken during the location scouting.
